Child on Overload
eeping your children too busy can be stressful -- for them and for you. Activities don't replace time with you. And don't think that a child's only hope for success later in life is the skills learned now. While lots of activities keep children occupied, a schedule that's too full actually can do your child more harm than good.
Listen to your children. Respect their ideas about how they'd like to spend their time.
Allow your children the opportunity to be bored. Boredom can help them discover what they really enjoy.
Slow yourself down so your children don't feel pushed aside for things that are more important to you.
Spend time with your children when you don't have anything planned.
Balance structured activities with unstructured play time. Kids need time without pressure to relax.
Try not to hurry your children unless you really must. Sometimes they need extra time to explore what's in a salad or a how a toy car is put together.
