Get Stronger

Lifting weights not only strengthens you, but it makes your body burn more calories for the same amount of effort.

But to get benefits from your efforts, the weights must be heavy enough that you can lift them no more than 8 to 12 times in a row. If you can lift them more than 12 times, the resistance is too light to stress the muscle. As you grow stronger, plan to gradually increase the weight you lift.
